Same sex classrooms; what's your opinion?

uh, I don't know. I think surely there's less social pressure in single-sex classrooms, but I also think that in the REAL world you have to deal with that every day. And school is, of course, about learning and grades, but it's also about learning to function socially.

For example, I work with all men. And when I say ALL MEN, I mean it. There are 10 attorneys in my office. 9 of them are men. (Brings to mind the Sesame Street song "one of these things is not like the other ones...") Yes, I'm a grown up and I can handle it and Yes, I understand that middle-school children are at a vulnerable time in their gender-related identity development. But I, for one, liked being in the class with boys. It made me feel smart ;) - That's not to say that I don't find the research interesting, and I don't think it's being done because they think girls aren't as smart or whatever...
